My Story
I began my journey as a NDIS Support Worker through my closest friend who has had MS for over 20 years. Throughout our long friendship I have been doing as much as I possibly can to ensure she is able to maintain her independence and lifestyle. I also provided care and assistance to my 94-year-old grandmother before her passing in March 2020. She was a very social and independent woman but in the later years started needing some extra care to maintain her independence.
These two people, among a couple of others in my life, have had a huge influence on me and inspired me to start Friends Who Care and help others.
For me this line of work is about being a friend and helping someone to continue living their best and most independent life possible. Everyone we work with is unique and requires their own style of care and a worker who suits their needs. I work with the clients, family members and support coordinators to learn and understand the clients’ individual needs and where our staff can step in to help. We work together to make sure each of our participants are getting the absolute most out of their plan and living their life to the fullest!
